Hello! My name is Laura Salamanca and I live and work in traditional Anishnaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Missisaugas of the credit river Indigenous territory (also known as Toronto). I have been serving the Toronto community for a decade as a sexual health counsellor. I am well-versed in supporting people with birth control options, sexually transmitted and blood borne infections, navigating sexual relationships, pregnancy options, abortion, reproductive health, healing from gender-based/sexualized violence, etc.
I work from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, reproductive justice perspective. My approach is also trauma-informed. I believe these frameworks are the most supportive for serving my communities (queer people, people of colour, immigrants, violence survivors). I work with anyone needing support in using sympto-thermal fertility awareness.
I am most proud of teaching fertility awareness from a gender-neutral perspective, encouraging people to connect with themselves and their bodies in gender-affirming ways. I am also a midwifery student, and an active community organizer.
I am open to working with folks in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. I am passionate about fertility awareness because it is a land-friendly method that encourages us to appreciate the fascinating nature of our bodies. In my spare time I love watching sci-fi with my amazing partner and our lovely orange cat. We love hosting games nights and bringing people together.
